The AI course generator facilitates clear, structured planning of course outlines and content. Before publishing the AI-generated course, you can review the entire course content to organize your ideas and ensure comprehensive coverage of topics.

        Integrations to Support User Onboarding

To help users get started with our platform quickly, we’ve implemented the following integrations:

        • Azure AD Integration: With the Microsoft Azure AD integration, Skill Lake assists you in automatically provisioning relevant applications for new hires as part of the onboarding process.
        • MS Entra SSO Integration: Now, you can log into Skill Lake with your Microsoft credentials and access the LMS seamlessly without entering separate login credentials.
        • Google SSO Integration: Instead of typing in your login credentials every time you access Skill Lake, Google Single Sign-On (SSO) gives you instant access to the platform. Skill Lake supports Google SSO on both web and mobile.

        Course Bundling

To ensure better convenience and significant cost savings for our customers, we’ve introduced course bundling in Skill Lake this year.

A course bundle allows you to group multiple online (self-paced) courses and instructor-led courses into a single enrollment package. Currently, we offer the ability to add up to 60+ courses as part of a course bundle.

Make Self-Paced Courses Available Outside Skill Lake

You can now offer self-paced eLearning courses outside the Skill Lake LMS and accept course enrollments. This helps expand the reach of your learning programs and initiatives.

Here are the new capabilities we have introduced to enhance your instructor-led courses in Skill Lake:

        • Publish Internal Batches: Within your organization, you can create and publish internal learning batches (groups) and allow employees to self-enroll in them.

Skill Lake users belonging to different levels of the organizational hierarchy—such as HR leaders, team managers, learners (employees), course moderators—can now benefit from a suite of performance management features offered by our platform.

The increase in online training, though convenient, has hampered many businesses. Poor quality training, difficulty in management, and, more specifically, tracking the completion of courses have all contributed to the problem.

One of the best things about online learning is the ease of access and the flexibility to earn from anywhere, anytime. Face-to-face training is more interactive, personalized, and brings the essence of the human touch.

This blog will help you understand why businesses in 2025 must reshape their training structure with blended learning.

        What Is Blended Learning?

Blended or hybrid learning combines conventional classroom approaches with online learning tools and socialization. According to the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE), blended or mixed learning combines face-to-face classroom approaches with digital or online learning tools and activities to ensure improved learning experience and knowledge retention rate.

When businesses implement blended learning, it helps maximize employee skills and performance. Blended learning also offers fresh training options and keeps training fun, systematic, and engaging.

The Growing Relevance of Blended Learning LMS in Corporate Environments for 2025

Blended workplace learning will become increasingly vital as 2025 approaches. LMS platforms that support blended learning will help companies keep their employees competent and competitive by combining in-person instruction with online flexibility.

Experts believe that blended learning will gain popularity by the end of 2025. It will be crucial in engaging workers and making them more adaptable and proficient, ready to tackle future demands. A blended learning business training tool must be the next focus for corporates looking to invest in effective training management strategies.

A robust LMS that supports blended learning can promote various forms of learning. Trainees can be engaged with graphics, gaming elements, podcasts, videos, presentations, webinars, and more.

Key Benefits of Investing in a Blended Learning LMS for 2025

        1. Enhanced Flexibility for Learners

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report estimates that 50% of workers will require extensive training by 2025.

LMS blended learning can help organizations promote training without disrupting daily tasks. Learners can choose self-paced e-learning or scheduled live sessions. Workers will also be able to access study materials anywhere and anytime, enabling more effective training on the job. This will not only keep them engaged and skilled but also enable a future-ready workforce.

        2. Cost Efficiency and Scalability

By investing in a Blended Learning LMS, you can cut down on training costs significantly and help your business grow. By adding digital learning choices, businesses can cut down on the costs of travel and place rentals that come with in-person training. Digital tools can be used again and updated quickly so that the investment will last and be flexible for future needs, no matter how many people work on your team.

        3. Personalized Learning Paths

Blended Learning LMS systems let workers learn at their own pace by giving them unique learning experiences. Self-directed online lessons and training with a teacher work together to make learning paths specific to each person’s skills, flaws, and job goals. Personalization makes learning more interesting and drives learners to finish courses and update their skills on time.

        4. Improved Employee Engagement

Recent research found that 93% of high-performing organizations agreed personalized learning supports an employee in reaching professional goals more efficiently, leading to better employee engagement.

Quizzes, gamified courses, and live talks are all interactive features that keep workers interested. This helps them remember what they’ve learned and creates a more fun learning setting they would want to return to again and again.

        5. Data-Driven Insights for Better Training Decisions

One great thing about the best LMS for blended learning is that it lets you monitor learner progress in real time. Course completion reports help instructors analyze learner behavior better, recognize how effective each course or study material is, and identify any skill gaps faster.

The HR and L&D teams can use these data-driven insights to improve training programs, find knowledge gaps, and change learning paths based on real performance measures. This helps create a feedback loop that keeps going and gets better results, ensuring that training works.

        6. Support for Diverse Learning Styles

Upskilling and Reskilling are the top priorities for L&D professionals globally. Employees learn differently, and a single method that works for all of them can be limited.

The best LMS for blended learning enables different learning methods by providing different types of content, such as videos, webinars, PDFs, and presentations. These enable all types of learners to gain knowledge and upgrade skills easily. Learning outcomes are more positive, and businesses get a more skilled workforce.

Why 2025 Is the Year for Blended Learning Investment

70% of employees believe they lack the skills they need to succeed in their jobs. Blended learning is a big change in the way people are trained. It strikes a good balance between the ease of learning online and the social benefits of talking to people in person.

It works for various learning types, gets people more involved, and helps them remember what they’ve learned. As technology improves quickly and businesses focus on skill development, mixed learning will continue to grow as an important part of career growth.

        Compliance Training

Compliance training is an essential component of organizational success. It ensures employees understand safety protocols, legal standards, and all regulations. Uncoordinated compliance can lead to legal issues and damage to organizations. Yet, traditional methods of delivering compliance training have lots of challenges.

Here, an LMS for compliance training comes into play. Such powerful tools can revolutionize the delivery and management of compliance training. LMS platforms like Skill Lake are indispensable for trainers and HRs seeking compliance excellence.

In this blog, we’ll discuss the pain points of compliance training and the role of LMS in simplifying it.

Pain Points of Compliance Training Without an LMS

        1. Inefficiency in training delivery

Traditional training methods often rely on seminars or presentations. These methods can lead to significant time losses for both trainers and employees. They also create logistical challenges and scheduling conflicts. Tracking attendance and ensuring participation can be an intense and complicated process.

        2. Lack of Standardization

According to KPMG, 50% of organizations promote ethical behavior and culture by expanding compliance training. Without an LMS, organizations may face inconsistent compliance training across different locations or departments.

This lack of standardization can result in employees receiving varying levels of training, which may be detrimental to maintaining compliance across the board. Employees may miss vital information, leading to gaps in knowledge and potential compliance issues.

        3. Difficulty Tracking Progress

Indeed, manual tracking of employees’ progress in compliance training can be cumbersome and prone to errors. Without an LMS, HRs may face issues monitoring who has completed training and who has not. This increases the risk of non-compliance, leading to serious consequences, especially if compliance audits disclose training faults.

        4. Limited Accessibility

Today, many employees work remotely or are part of a distributed team. In-person training sessions may not be workable for all employees, making it challenging to ensure that everyone receives the required training. This limitation leads to knowledge gaps and hinders the organization’s ability to maintain compliance.

        5. Outdated Content

It is essential to keep the training material updated with the current market. Outdated systems always affect the industry’s practices and bring the risk of non-compliance. Without a centralized system for distribution and updates, this may become a nightmare. This challenge is further increased when many departments manage their training materials.

7 Ways LMS Software, Like Skill Lake, Can Streamline Compliance Training

So, businesses should manage internal and external compliance. It means lots of compliance assessments to keep track of yearly. And there’s no room for error here. But trying to juggle all that without an LMS? It may lead to you missing the required stuff.

A compliance LMS with alerts, certification, and assessment features helps. It eases things out and keeps training and assessment programs on track.

Moreover, compliance training software offers automation features such as reporting and reminders. This reduces the administrative burden, helping HRs and L&D free up their time for more managerial tasks.

        3. Reusable content/ course templates that can be used/ updated to train multiple batches of learners.
        4. Create and offer multiple formats of eLearning content, including videos, text, images, documents, audio clips, and more.
        5. Provision to host, manage and deliver SCORM compliant course packages.

        7. Feedback and Learning Journal

An ideal LMS solution allows you to map each employee to a suitable mentor who can monitor the learning progress and provide regular feedback to boost knowledge retention and learning accountability.

Look for a corporate LMS that enables you to:

        1. Assign mentors to leverage specialized knowledge or provide extra support to your learners.
        2. Directly map subject matter experts to learners to facilitate personalized learning and guidance.
        3. Mentors can share knowledge, provide continuous feedback through learning journals, suggest courses, and monitor the progress of their mentees regularly.

        8. Integration With Other Platforms

The right LMS is one that integrates with:

        1. Third-party learning content and delivery platforms (eg: Udemy, Coursera, etc.). The integration will help your employees access internal and external courses and learning materials in one place.
        2. Other business applications used by your organization (eg: CRM, ERP, accounting software, HRMS, etc.). The integration will help you access and manage all the information in one place, without juggling multiple applications.

        9. Certification Management

Using a modern LMS like Skill Lake, you can issue custom-designed certificates to learners post course completion.

        1. Rewarding employees with course certificates is a great way to motivate learners.
        2. Professional certificates also help in validating the legitimacy of the skills acquired by the learner.

Two Key Aspects to Consider When Choosing an LMS

        1. Ease of Use (Intuitive Interface)

Intuitiveness of the LMS comes above everything. An LMS with clunky administrative functions faces poor adoption within your organization. So kick the tires on offer before finalizing your choice.

        1. Identify ease of use on the front end (what your learners see) as well as on the back end.
        2. If your LMS offers you a free trial of the system, use it! Or ask for a live demo and see for yourself.
        3. Make sure the LMS is both easy to use and robust with the features you need.
        4. The right LMS allows your organization to keep pace with the evolving skilling needs.

        2. Security Features

The right LMS offers robust built-in security to safeguard your organization’s content security and ownership, sensitive data, assets, and user information.

Check whether the LMS comes packed with these in-built security measures:

        1. Encrypted passwords, walled communities, authenticated resource access, secure profiles and messaging, communications monitoring, secure storage and servers to protect the LMS users and their resources.
        2. Measures opted by the LMS provider for fixing/ troubleshooting the reported bugs and errors without extended delays.
        3. Understand if the LMS allows your administrators to prevent selected users (such as resigned employees) from logging into the LMS, revoke their access rights, or delete their profiles entirely if necessary.
        4. Review the official privacy policy of the LMS provider to understand their policies and procedures related to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information gathered from visitors and registered users.

Know the Different Types of LMSs

When you are planning to build and deliver a robust training program using an LMS, you need to consider two things:n

        1. The kind of training platform (LMS) you are planning to adopt
        2. How you will administer and manage the platform effectively

That said, you need to understand how to choose an LMS and the most common types of it before finalizing your choice.

        1. Cloud-Based vs. On Premise LMS

        Cloud-based (SaaS) LMS:

In this model, you will typically outsource all the server maintenance and back end IT needs to the LMS provider. Also, you will receive the most current system updates for free.

When can you choose a SaaS model LMS?

        1. You want to get started with a low start-up cost, without any license requirement.
        2. You need a quick solution to deploy and implement, especially when compared to an installed system.
        3. You need a scalable system to quickly add more users without any additional setup, installation, or configuration.
        4. You are currently unable to make a large upfront investment.
        5. You want to manage your operations within a predictable monthly spend.

        On-premise LMS (self-hosted):

An on-premise LMS is hosted on a company’s own server. The server will be managed by the company itself, while the application management activities such as deployment, updates, etc. will be performed by the LMS vendor or the company themselves based on permissions.

In this model, the software licensing comes as a one-time purchase perpetual license or under an annual license renewal plan.

When can you choose an on-premise LMS?

        1. You have a large user base and you need to choose a license model that can save money in the long run.
        2. You are ready to make a sizeable upfront investment so you can benefit from the long-term savings.
        3. Your business operates in a highly regulated industry like healthcare, banking, or finance. Due to security regulations, you need to choose a self-hosted LMS instead of a SaaS model LMS.
        4. You have the option to buy an LMS license and install it on your own servers behind your firewall.
        5. You want to integrate the LMS tightly with your other systems such as HRMS, ERP, accounting software, etc.

        2. Proprietary vs. Open-Source LMS

        Proprietary LMS:

A proprietary LMS is fully owned and managed by your organization. In this model, the software is restricted from any modifications, reverse engineering, or other uses.

A proprietary LMS is a closed-source LMS that comes with license costs per user.

        Open-Source LMS:

In the open-source LMS model, the source code is made available for free. The code can be modified without any restrictions. You can update or customize the software depending on your organization’s requirements.

You’ll still need to invest in setting up, customizing, and maintaining the LMS, though it is free.

The Cost of a Good LMS

What are the important things to be aware of when considering the cost of a good LMS?

        1. Ongoing management costs: How will you administer and manage the LMS?
        2. Internal resource requirements: Do you need a team in place for the LMS to work effectively?
        3. Implementation costs: How will the LMS implementation impact your day-to-day business?
        4. Onboarding requirements: Who all in your team should learn about the new system?
        5. Learning content production: How will you design and implement your training courses? Does the LMS offer an in-built course builder to speed up content development?
        6. Ongoing maintenance and support costs: How will you maintain your LMS and offer the necessary support to users and learners?

Once you create an initial outlay of the LMS budget, you need to get buy-in from the right stakeholders.

        1. Justify the additional budget needs to the senior management team.
        2. Communicate how the LMS implementation will increase the effectiveness of your training.
        3. Narrate how the potential LMS can boost your growth and increase revenue.

How to Choose an LMS : 7 Steps to Consider

A typical LMS selection process starts with skimming through an LMS Buyer’s Guide. Choosing an ideal LMS then involves the following seven steps:

        1. Define your needs and purpose: Understand your employee training goals. Plan and define your objectives based on your organization’s training requirements.
        2. Identify your challenges: Look at your current learning platforms and training programs. Identify if there are any gaps or shortcomings.
        3. Consider the integrations: Keep an idea of the required system integrations in mind.
        4. Assess the platform’s scalability: Think about your future requirements. Do you want the LMS to grow with you?
        5. Know the LMS benefits: Find out how your organization can benefit from the right LMS choice.
        6. Get stakeholder buy-in: Do a training needs analysis internally. Ask all stakeholders involved how they like to learn.
        7. Determine your budget: Consider the cost of the LMS and your current budget. Analyze the source of your budget (where it will come from).

Invest in the Right LMS: Get Started on Your Learning Journey

The LMS selection process can become overwhelming, especially with the plenty of choices available in the current market. The first step is to consider your requirements even before exploring any of the options. Once you have a clear picture of what you are looking for in an LMS  you can confidently invest in an LMS best-suited to your needs. It’s always best to quickly check through an ‘How to Choose an LMS’ Guide before investing in one.

Creating high-quality and relevant course content requires immense time and effort. AI can streamline this process by enabling instant content creation. According to Forbes, 35% of businesses worldwide use AI for content creation. These figures clearly state the benefits of AI in course creation. AI can recommend more interactive and relevant titles, descriptions, and much more. This helps save time and costs on hiring professionals for content creation or purchasing course materials.

Content is the king when it comes to effective learning management. It’s imperative to nourish learners with rich and accurate data. Collecting relevant and updated data sometimes proves tedious for instructors. It’s time-consuming and requires a lot of effort. Using AI in content creation helps derive relevant and actionable data instantly, enabling an effective learning journey.

Use case: Healthcare technology companies developing unique products and technology software must consistently educate their staff on product development. 4. Inclusive Learning Environment

Your organization may have learners from different geographies or prefer course materials in specific languages. Learning opportunities are often limited for such learners due to the lack of relevant content. However, AI course-creation tools help HR managers and L&D teams instantly address the need for accessible and scalable training content. AI in course creation helps ensure learners of any background get high-quality, interactive lessons.

An AI-powered LMS course creation platform lets managers and teams meet diverse, multilingual cultures. It ensures quality and consistency, no matter the geographical constraints. AI Course Creator

With the ever-changing market dynamics, the need for engaging and effective online learning options is now more than ever. In such scenarios, Learning Management Systems (LMS) are paving the way for revolutionized training methods with easy access to course materials, effective learning modes, and more.

LMSs with AI capabilities are especially at the forefront of this change and are now a powerful new tool for people development. This blog will help you understand how AI powers LMS platforms to boost learning management, especially in course creation.

How Does AI Course Creator In LMS Enhance Learning Experiences

Speaking of AI-powered LMS tools, AI course creator is an eminent feature that enables effective course authoring and training management. So, what exactly does an AI course creator do? AI course creator helps create learning content instantly by applying the targeted learner type and desired learner outcome or experience. Such instant course creation saves time and helps develop targeted content specific to unique skill development. Here are more ways AI course creators in LMS enhance learning experiences.

        1. Easy and Instant Course Creation

Instructors or training providers normally rely on learning materials found online or in authorized books. However, finding relevant content takes immense time and manual effort. Moreover, this content may not be in the right format to apply to an LMS platform, which makes it even more complex to deliver and execute an effective training program. However, AI-enabled course creators built into LMS platforms help instantly generate the required content in the prescribed format to elevate the specific skill sets of a targeted group.

        2. Content Aligned to Specific Outcomes or Objectives

Training programs are often unique to an organization’s skill set requirements. Thus, uplifting these skills might not always have a scripted booklet or course structure. It’s often upon the instructors to draft one. However, AI simplifies drafting such unique and specific courses with prescribed outcomes. This feature is especially important when it comes packed in an LMS that defines individuals’ skill gaps. Creating courses to develop people at an individual level becomes easily possible with such tools.

        3. Seamless Content Delivery

In today’s fast-paced market, enterprises must keep employees motivated, engaged, and updated on the go. Traditional course generation methods often make delivering smooth and consistent training difficult. AI course creator-powered LMS streamlines the process of generating the required training materials and assigning them to the targeted group.

        4. Delivering Updated Content that Matters

Having an updated workforce is a must for enterprises today. In a way, every organization needs its people to grow and develop continuously. That needs relevant content and regular training. Instantly generating AI content that’s updated and relevant to the industry can help organizations drive a culture of continuous people growth and development. Especially when combined with the advantages of an LMS platform, efficiency in learning management can be achieved without stress.

How does AI Course Creator LMS Impact Industries: Use Cases

AI-integrated LMSs are yielding impressive outcomes for institutions and enterprises. These successful use cases stories show how AI transforms learning and growth:

        1. Healthcare Industry Training Enhancement

AI course creation tools are particularly beneficial to the healthcare sectors, especially when professionals need a quick update on policies or new treatments and technology. Previously, updating staff with new information, policies, or knowledge required a long wait for curated content to be published online or on authorized portals. However, with AI course creators today, healthcare organizations already using LMS platforms can instantly create and deliver short course content and keep their staff updated and equipped with the right knowledge.

        2. Enriching Learning Experience in Complex Fields

Corporate firms or insurance companies that deal with complex concepts can now easily curate content that is easier and faster to grasp with AI course creators. Professional course materials are often content-heavy and time-consuming to learn. However, AI can help break such content-heavy courses into charts, graphs, and bars that are engaging, innovative, and easy to grasp and retain.

        3. Delivering Relevant and Rich Content

Knowing how people interact with the learning system is essential for improving corporate environments. AI course creators provide much information about how people learn and make suggestions based on data to improve the learning experience. For example, in the construction industry, AI can analyze trainees’ progress and suggest adjustments in the content delivery to better match their content style. AI can also help create relevant content for the individual’s learning journey, enabling an impactful learning experience. This leads to better training, which reduces mistakes on the job and makes things safer.

        Construction eLearning

How do you identify and impart the skills your employees will need to deliver work in the future? Do you leave it to chance or have a plan?

In any case, you need to come across a learning management system (LMS).

An LMS is a must-have tool to upskill your employees. In other words, an LMS equips your team to address the evolving demands posed by the industry. In my research, I found these interesting facts from two different Gartner reports.

        1. The technology optimizes learning outcomes and experience by 3.3x.
        2. Online learning solutions boost 28% of skill preparedness among learners.

Gartner’s analysis signals the growing significance of eLearning in construction workforce upskilling.

The Importance of Upskilling in Construction

As part of my research, I analyzed the data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Associated Builders and Contractors. Both prove why upskilling is vital for the survival of construction players.

Let’s look at what each one says.

        1. Shifts in workforce age demographics are commonplace. However, the construction industry is aging faster than it can replace older workers. According to the USBLS, employees above 55 comprise 23% of the construction workforce.
        2. Project demands in construction are rising, and the skills gap is widening. Contractors are operating with a shrinking pool of talent. ABC says construction companies will need to hire more than half a million workers in 2024 to meet the growing demand for labor, on top of the normal hiring pace.

        My Take Away

A large cohort of retiring workers is mounting the skills gap in the industry. With fewer younger workers, construction companies must now invest in upskilling.

        And How Does Upskilling Help?

Upskilling equips your construction workers to:

        1. Gain new skills and knowledge through continuous training.
        2. Match the evolving job demands and trends in the industry.
        3. Make your workers more qualified for better jobs.

The Current State of the Construction Industry

As I said earlier, the construction sector is experiencing an ongoing labor shortage—the biggest I have ever seen in my career.

Here is what the current situation looks like:

        1. Construction players are operating with a limited pool of skilled workers. This is driving up labor costs and hourly wages.
        2. Schedules get squeezed, putting a heavy amount of pressure on existing workers. This ruins work-life balance and productivity.
        3. The demand for skilled construction workers is at its peak. Added to this is a lack of qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions.
        4. A large aging workforce is taking away years of experience and knowledge. Club this with a lack of interest in trade careers among younger generations.

How can construction companies address the escalating talent retention issue?

Based on my analysis, I recommend these two ways:

        1. Invest in upskilling your existing workforce. Do make a provision for the same in your budget.
        2. Create a flexible, efficient workforce with construction eLearning accessible anywhere, 24/7.

Benefits of Upskilling Your Construction Workforce

Workforce upskilling enables construction companies to:

        1. Maximize productivity and efficiency on construction sites. Build a competent team that can meet the demands of modern construction projects.
        2. Ensure your employees’ skills are relevant and valuable to your company.
        3. Increase your workers’ competitiveness. It helps your company stay ahead of competition.
        4. Attract and retain top talent with unique training opportunities. Reduce employee turnover.
        5. Create a positive company culture. Help your employees feel valued and appreciated. Boost the morale in your organization.
        6. Employees stay longer when you commit to their development and career growth.
        7. Make employees more adaptable and resilient to industry changes. Allow them to learn new skills faster and transition to different roles as needed.
        8. Construction sites are generally hazardous. Upskilling helps reduce the risk of workplace fatalities, injuries, and accidents.
        9. Provide workers the tools and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.

Construction Training Online: The Rise of eLearning

In their 2023 Workforce Survey, ABC highlights the rise of construction eLearning. The survey found an increased use of online training programs in the last year to attract talent.

Construction eLearning is on the rise due to several reasons, including:

        1. The distributed nature of construction projects.
        2. The need for employees to maintain their certifications and licenses
        3. Employees need to conform to evolving health and safety regulations.
        4. In-person training taking workers’ time away from job sites.
        5. Contractors struggling to meet deadlines due to shortage of skilled labor.

Key Features of an Effective LMS for Construction Training Online

An ideal LMS helps you create, deliver, track, and manage eLearning courses end-to-end.

Let’s dig deeper into the three key features that make an LMS ideal for construction training online.

        Interactive and Engaging Content

When will you term a piece of training content interactive and engaging?

Only if it captivates and educates the learner. To achieve this, modern LMS systems use several techniques.

        1. Virtual Reality: How about learning complex machine controls in a risk-free environment? Create a machine simulator using VR. Say goodbye to training workers in hazardous real-world situations.
        2. Augmented Reality: How about providing live instructions to your on-site crew from anywhere? Your manager can start or schedule a remote session with the crew from any device. All made possible by AR.
        3. Gamification: Who doesn’t appreciate getting rewards and perks for achieving learning milestones? Apply gamification techniques to motivate learners with virtual rewards, points, redeemable coupons, etc.
        4. Interactive Elements: Let learners engage with your content. Make your courses more vibrant with short puzzles, quick games, and snappy quizzes. The more learners interact with your content, the faster they learn the concepts.
        5. Multimedia: Make your eLearning courses more versatile. Add more color and flavor by using a mix of audio, video, image, text, and more. Deliver your courses in the best formats to arouse interest among learners.

        Customizable Training Programs

Construction training online cannot always be “one size fits all.”

Prepackaged training meets only 20% of your objectives. But customized training meets more than 60% of your skilling requirements. So, it’s imperative to choose an LMS that allows you to customize training as needed.

What can you achieve with customized construction eLearning?

        1. Develop skills that are relevant to your organization and projects.
        2. Align training to match your business goals, vision, and standards.
        3. Personalize learning for each employee based on their needs and interests.
        4. Tailor your own training materials, expertise, and resources.
        5. Use relevant examples that your employees can connect with.

        Mobile Accessibility for On-The-Go Learning

“A minute saved is a minute earned.” And that’s what mobile learning helps you with.

I have analyzed an average onsite employee’s workday for many months. It’s surprising to see that only 40% of their working time gets devoted to actual work. The remaining 60% gets lapsed in running errands like searching for machinery or equipment, shifting materials from one point to another, or cleaning up a construction site.

Even if 10% of the 60 gets allotted for construction eLearning, it will make a huge difference to your business.

Mobile learning is not a nice-to-have, it is a must-have.

        1. Enable mobile learning for your frontline construction crews. It allows them to pursue learning from anywhere, at any time, using their own mobile devices.
        2. Encourage learners to meet training goals without interrupting their work schedules. They can access courses and complete tests even during non-working hours.
        3. Include more self-paced eLearning courses. Make training burden-free and enjoyable for your construction workforce.
        4. Manage your on-site construction crew’s training on the mobile LMS app. No need to insist workers at job sites attend in-office training.

        Learning on the Go

Global Impact of LMS on Construction eLearning

Learning management systems revolutionize construction eLearning creation, design, and delivery. An LMS is a must-have for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Companies that adopt an LMS for construction training online have:

        1. Lower accident rates
        2. More productive on-site workers
        3. Reduced employee turnover rates

Implementing an LMS for Construction Training Online

Learning is a non-stop activity in the construction industry. To ensure continuous learning and professional development, you need an LMS.

Steps to Get Started With an LMS

A little planning goes a long way.

Look into these LMS pre-implementation steps before diving headfirst.

        1. Assess your LMS needs. Find out why you need an LMS. Is it to address training gaps, compliance challenges, or scalability issues?
        2. Take stock of your existing training materials and system. Are your training materials up-to-date? Can they be uploaded to a new system easily? Do you have other systems that the new LMS should integrate with?
        3. Identify your training needs and goals. Define what you want to achieve with LMS implementation. Is it to improve employee skills, reduce training costs, or enhance compliance? Who will use the LMS and what are their needs? Create a requirement list for the LMS.

Self-assessment is the best way to get started with LMS implementation. It boosts your clarity and confidence, enabling you to reach out to stakeholders and potential LMS vendors.

        Overcoming Common Challenges

We are at the brink of an eLearning revolution. Yet, construction training isn’t devoid of challenges. I find three problems more awful than other snags.

        1. Systematic training and retaining of qualified employees. Many contractors are willing to offer regular, comprehensive training, but they don’t know where to start. Acute labor shortages also make systematic capability building a significant hurdle.
        2. Implementing a long-term capability-building program. A lion’s share of construction work is done by staff hired on-demand. Many companies lack the strong incentive to build long-term skills.
        3. Leaders focus more on short-term priorities and troubleshooting. Leaders try to complete work on time and on budget. As a result, they pay less attention to the long-term sustainability of the business. Hard skills-focused training will only boost the technical proficiency of employees. They don’t acquire the soft skills needed for negotiating with counterparties, tackling unforeseen issues, communicating with the business, and resolving conflicts.

To solve these three challenges, construction companies should:

        1. Integrate skill-building efforts into day-to-day people development. Include clear career paths and correlate training. Align training your strategic priorities.
        2. Design a training curriculum that adopts a mix of hard and soft skills. It will help employees adapt to the evolving nature of work, as it is today.
        3. Use virtual tools that can encourage dynamic interactions. Virtual workshops and instructor-led virtual sessions offer both intensive learning and valuable network-building opportunities.

        The Future of Construction eLearning

Success in the construction industry rests on the shoulders of its skilled employees. Being a people-dependent sector, training is of utmost importance in construction.

The World Economic Forum’s Shaping the Future of Construction report states what an effective training system is.

According to WEF, the best-designed digital training system:

        1. Adapts training to prepare employees for the organization’s current and future needs.
        2. Exploits technology, by adopting eLearning and tracking learning progress.
        3. Customize training for each employee. Make every staff a part of organizational training.

Undoubtedly, we can say eLearning is the future of construction training.

Long-Term Benefits of LMS for Upskilling

To sum up, here is a quick snapshot of the benefits of using an LMS for upskilling.

Using an LMS for upskilling, you can:

        1. Establish a consolidated approach to training. Make training centralized, consistent, and continuous.
        2. Gain tangible return on investment. Link training to performance and track how your team performs.
        3. Preserve years of valuable institutional knowledge that often get lost due to employee turnover.
        4. Online learning is more practical and economical to train remote employees. Employees can access courses, whether they’re at the office or on a hammock in their backyard.
        5. An LMS simplifies and reinforces your employee onboarding process. Making a great first impression kicks the employer-employee relationship off on the right foot.

The value and benefits of an LMS increases with time. As your training needs evolve, you can add new training modules, courses, and materials to the system.
